The Buzludzha monument is a Marxist shrine to Bulgaria’s Communist Past. It was built to honour the founder of the Bulgarian Socialist Party in 1981. It was the party’s headquarters decorated with mosaics of communist art. Other abandoned sites across Europe have similar histories.
It is now falling into disrepair after the Fall of Communism.
Many people go to visit the site to see a grand monument in decline. Some think it should be demolished. Others brought back to its former
glory. To be remembered so not to be repeated.
Or to be forgotten in the mists of time.
