Approach

North London Counsellor Blog
How do I work?

I have been trained in a variety of approaches: person centred,
psychodynamic, existential, cognitive behavioural, and relational.
My approach is eclectic and client-centred. My focus is to help you the person with whatever challenges you bring.

I have a Primary Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

I have worked with any number of issues including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, homelessness, anger, rage, addiction to sex, drugs and alcohol, bereavement and loss.I am interested in the relationship between counselling and management, see Managers Page.

Counselling provides safe positive space for you to explore your feelings.
Counselling is not for everybody. It is hard work, and humbling to recognise your own strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes this means that feelings that you have tried to avoid come to the surface and things might feel as though they are worse for you.

Counselling can be painful, upsetting, challenging and unsettling. Growing is painful.
But counselling is also liberating, exciting, and allows you to lead the life that you want to lead rather than the be governed by the patterns and behaviour that you have been taught.
What is the difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy?
There are many different views on this.

I work in the way of being with the client. I listen and hear what the client is trying to say, and try to pick up what the meaning or message is that is being communicated.
I work with a positive integrated approach that helps the client to understand what thier life might mean to them.
Counselling and Psychotherapy are aiming to do the same thing: provide you the client with safe confidential space to talk about whatever you wish to talk about.
There are different ways in which the two ways of working are monitored and regulated, makes little difference to you the client.
